2006 - Major Expansion / New Build / Move

2008-2009 - Business Op’s / New Build

On September 20, 1993, the Greater Buffalo Gymnastics Center opened its doors to the Amherst community and surrounding areas.
  • After years of overcoming obstacles, a now triumphant Hirsch Family continues to appreciate the reality of their dream, give back to the community, and continue to grow.
  •  They eventually won a heated battle with the Town of Amherst Zoning Board and started construction on their 13,500 square foot facility. Once completed, they welcomed gymnasts of all ages along with Spezio’s Dance Dynamics and Tracy’s Kenpo Karate Studio.
  • Original budget - $303,000.…equal to almost a $750,000 risk in today's dollars.
  • The Greater Buffalo Gymnastics Center complex allows for activities the whole family can enjoy while being a place the whole community can be proud of. These are the principles held by Torey, Sharon, TJ and Jacquie that made it possible to open the doors over 3 decades ago.

2017 - Major Expansion / Move

2014 - New Build

2018 - New Build

1993 - Startup

The first of many:
  • 6,000 square foot expansion of brand new construction onto the building.
  • 3,000 square feet specifically for gym including another in ground trampoline, in-ground tumbl trac, and additional equipment.
  • 3,000 square feet for storage which would become the start of TJ Hirsch Enterprises, Inc. Exotic & Classic Car Show Showroom.

2005-2006 - Major Expansion

Brand new construction of 14,500 square foot building
  • Directly next door to Greater Buffalo Gymnastics on the same campus.
  • Spezio's Dance dynamics moves across the parking lot into 3 new studios, and is joined at the complex by White Martial' Arts Academy and Four Seasons Childcare & Pre-School.
  • Greater Buffalo reclaims the dance studio's former 1st floor footprint with a Pro-Shop and their 2nd floor space with a Fitness Center.
  • The 2005 - 2006 project took over 19 months of work with 479 days of Construction and total price tag of over $1.3 million - (over $2 million in today's dollars).
  • Done on-time and under budget.
With the businesses and complex in full swing, and expanding yet again, the company was split and re-structured to separately manage it's respective areas - the operations and the real estate.
  • During the same time, an additional 6,000 square feet was added to the vehicle storage portion of the building to continue enabling growth for that company.
  • This resulted in a total footprint of 9,000 square feet and boasted such amenities such as a fire sprinkler system, an in-ground vehicle turntable, a life-size custom display case for cars and housed some of the worlds most rare, expensive and sought-after vehicles in the world.
With the support of Greater Buffalo and the surrounding community, The Center for Jacquie Hirsch For ALL Foundation is constructed and dedicated in memory of Jacquie Hirsch.
  • This new 1,000 square foot building serves as a home-base for the non-profit entity who assist’s patients and families in their fight against cancer as well as planning fundraising events and funding leukemia research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo NY.
In typical BIG fashion, Greater Buffalo celebrates its 25th Anniversary with another expansion project.
  • This time a separation wall between the storage area and the gym was moved and 3,000 more square feet was incorporated into the gymnastics arena.
  • Thereby making the gym space 19,500 total square feet and decreasing the storage area to 6,000 square feet.
In order to replace the square footage to the storage business that the gym took over in 2017, a new 4,000 square foot purpose-built facility was constructed from the ground-up at the south end of 1641.
  • At the time, this was achieved with an extremely efficient budget of only $280,000. This too, was done on-time, on-budget and opened on October 1st 2018 for the winter storage season.

2021 - Major Renovation

2025 - Major Renovation

After skillfully navigating COVID, Greater Buffalo re-opened its doors. Then, proceeded to knock a bunch of them down along with almost every wall, ceiling, floor and room!
  • The entire front of the building on both the 1st floor and 2nd floor was gutted and re-built along with fresh new designs, colors, offices and furniture for an enhanced experience to customers and employees.

2027 -New Build

  • Coming Summer 2025!
  • A massive update for Greater Buffalo Gymnastics will add another 6,000 square feet to the existing gymnastics arena, double the capacity of the girls recreational equipment space, add several new pieces for the boys program, and add new apparatus for the girls competitive teams.
  • We are also excited to welcome a new tenant into our 8,500 square foot daycare space which will be a wonderful addition to the complex, as well as fulfilling a need for our local community member families.
This carefully designed and constructed two story building of approximately 15,000 square feet will house several businesses that will enhance the neighborhood and will provide quality services complementing the existing campus.
