2006 - Major Expansion / New Build / Move

2008-2009 - Business Op’s / New Build

On September 20, 1993, the Greater Buffalo Gymnastics Center opened its doors to the Amherst community and surrounding areas. The Greater Buffalo Gymnastics Center complex was built because of the Hirsch Family’s driving ideals. This specially designed complex allows for activities the whole family can enjoy and a place the whole community can be proud of. These are the principles held by Torey, Sharon, TJ and Jacquie that opened the doors over 30 years ago.
After years of overcoming obstacles, a now triumphant Hirsch Family continues to appreciate the reality of their dream.
Won battle with Town of Amherst Zoning Board and started construction on 13,500 square foot facility. Opened our doors on September 20, 1993 with Greater Buffalo Gymnastics, Spezio’s Dance Dynamics and Tracy’s Kenpo Karate Studio. Original budget - $303,000.…equal to almost a $750,000 risk in 2024 dollars.

2017 - Major Expansion / Move

2014 - New Build

2018 - New Build

1993 - Startup

6,000 square foot expansion onto building. 3,000 sf specifically for gym including another in ground trampoline, in-ground tumbl trac, additional equipment and 3,000 sf for storage which would become the start of TJ Hirsch Enterprises, Inc.

2005-2006 - Major Expansion

Brand new construction of 14,500 square foot building next door to Greater Buffalo. Spezio's Dance dynamics move across the parking lot, and is joined at the complex by White Martial' Arts Studio and Four Seasons Childcare & Pre-School. Greater Buffalo reclaims the dance studio's 1st floor with a Pro-Shop and their 2nd floor space with a Fitness Center. The 2005 - 2006 project took over 19 months of work with 479 days of Construction and totaled $1.3 million - (over $2 million in 2024 dollars). It was done on-time and under budget.
With the businesses and complex expanding, the operations and property entities we’re split and re-structured into Greater Buffalo Gymnastics & Fitness Center, LLC and Greater Buffalo Gymnastics Center, Inc.  in order for each to manage the respective operations and the real estate.  During the same time, an additional 6,000 sf was added to the vehicle storage portion of the building for that company to grow, making that portion of the building 9,000 sf.
With the support of Greater Buffalo and the surrounding community, The Center for Jacquie Hirsch For ALL Foundation is built in memory of Jacquie Hirsch. This new 1,000 sf serves as a home-base for the non-profit entity who assist’s patients and families in their fight against cancer as well as planning fundraising events and funding leukemia research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo NY.
In typical BIG fashion, Greater Buffalo celebrates its 25th Anniversary with another expansion project. This time a wall separating the storage area from GB was moved and 3,000 sf more was incorporated into the gymnastics arena. Thereby making the gym space 19,500 sf in total and decreasing the storage to 6,000 sf.
In order to replace the square footage to the storage business that the gym took over in 2017, a new 4,000 sf building was constructed from the ground-up at the south end of 1641. At the time, this was achieved with an extremely efficient budget of only $280,000. This too, was done on-time, on-budget and opened on October 1st 2018 for the winter storage season.

2021 - Major Renovation

After skillfully navigating COVID, Greater Buffalo re-opened its doors and then proceeded to knock a bunch of them down along with almost every wall, ceiling, floor and room! The entire front of the building on both the 1st floor and 2nd floor was re-built along with fresh new designs, colors, offices, furniture for an enhanced experience to customers and employees.
